Dear Second Grade Parents,
This year will be a busy year for our second graders as they prepare for their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Please look at the Sacrament schedules carefully for your planning throughout the year.
First Communion preparation will be both the same and somewhat different from last year. We will offer four first communion dates and families will choose from these dates. We have tried to avoid the Sunday of Mother’s Day and the Saturday evening Mass of Derby week-end. The dates of the First Communion celebrations are:
Saturday, May 7 at 2:30 P.M. (limited to 50 children)
Saturdayy, May 14 at 2:30 P.M. (limited to 50 children)
Sunday, May 15 at 9:00 A.M. (limited to 40 children)
Sunday, May 15 at 11:00 A.M.. (limited to 40 children)
Just a reminder to those of you who have 8th graders, Confirmation will be Friday, May 20 at 7:00 P.M.
Fr. Jan prefers no more than 40 children at each of the regular week-end Masses. The Saturday, May 7 at 2:30 P.M. and Saturday, May 14 at 2:30 P.M. are open to a possible 50 children and families. At the bottom of this information sheet is a sign-up form. Families may sign up for the Mass of their choice. We will try to accommodate you, but we will divide the numbers equally between religious education children and school children.
We will be taking the group and individual pictures. In looking at the First Communion schedule, you will see that we have scheduled two dates for pictures—Monday, May 2 for School Classes and individual pictures and Tuesday, May 3 for PRP classes and individual pictures. Hopefully, everyone will be able to come dressed on those evenings for the class group pictures followed by individual pictures for those who wish to purchase individual pictures.
We will divide our Jesus Day Second Grade Retreat into two retreat events—April 9 and april 16-- each Saturday we will have one Saturday First Communion group and one Sunday First Communion group.. We will take time during the Jesus Day Retreat for a first rehearsal with the children. During the week prior to First Communion we will have a second rehearsal for the children with parents attending. Please check the schedule carefully for times.
Before the end of September we will verify your First Communion date so that you can share this date and time with your family and friends.
